Lake Simbi Nyaima-Homabay County

LAKE SIMBI NYAIMA- HOMABAY COUNTY
Located about 4km from Kendubay town, and 80km from Kisumu city, is the 0.50km² saline Lake. Measuring about 700m long and 500m wide, this mythical Lake, with an average depth of 25m is a special gem- attracting both local and international tourists, religious pilgrims and researchers. The ever presence of the lesser flamingo species ensures it’s pinkish outlook . These birds migrate from the rift valley lakes of Nakuru, Bogoria, Natron and Elementaita. This little paradise has other birds like little grebes, little egrets, Egyptian geese etc. Local legends, told repeatedly by the committed guides, has it that the lake was formed as a result of a heavy torrential that engulfed the whole village, because it was cursed by a maiden who was denied beer, in a party of local revelers .

We do organized tours to this place and more.
