Zoa falls is barely known to the Malawian community since it’s not adequately marketed to Malawians and international tourists. It’d be nice if people would know and get to visit this place because it’s very beautiful and worth visiting 😍. It is located in Thyolo district, Thekelani side. It borders Malawi and Mozambique, and if you google Mozambican tourist map of sites, Zoa falls will be there. The water that flows comes all the way from mulanje mountain, Ruo river. We were very lucky to catch the rainbow 🌈 at the falls since it made it look more dramatic, especially with the mist which made it even more eye catching. The water is very dirty due to the soil erosion that usually happens during the rainy season. It even gets more beautiful when the water isn’t dirty. This place is also ideal for camping 🏕 since it has a campsite with a toilet and bathroom. For one to get to #Zoafalls it’s advisable to use cars like 4×4 since the road is bumpy. And if you intend to come back the same day, especially before it gets dark, It’s advisable to start off early in the morning. The drive from Blantyre to Zoa falls is also very satisfying as you get to see and appreciate the beautiful views Malawi has to offer, the tea fields, palm trees 🌴, mountains ⛰, shire river, the Lower shire and many more natural wonders.
It’s advisable to get a local guide at Thekelani to guide you to the falls.
